Mountain View, CA, US (Semi-BS Press) — In a stunning development, a complete loser with too much free time on his hands SEO-savvy web searcher has discovered that search engine giant Google has apparently condemned itself to Google (Supplemental) Hell.
A query of supplemental results on Google.com reveals approximately 17,300,000 results; similar queries on the various Google datacenters vary in number.

That’s right, kids. Atlanta is no longer a part of the United States of America. It got moved, along with the rest of the great state of Georgia, up to Canada.
How did I come upon this amazing geographic discovery? By paying attention to Google Ads. I saw an ad promoting affordable web design on TechCrunch. It wasn’t the ad itself that intrigued me as much as the domain name: atlantawebdesign.ca. Since .ca refers to Canadian domain names, it must mean that Atlanta is now a Canadian city!

This post is dedicated to Joe “Canucklehead” Burke, for being the only other true Parrothead that I still talk to on a regular basis.
Yesterday I introduced the Musical Monday feature to my blog with a post about Roger Hodgson and his tremendous career.
In the interest of continuing the musical theme, I have selected a site that will hopefully broaden some of your musical horizons: Radio Margaritaville.

Was alone then along came Mary
Hair of gold and lips like cherries
Was amazed when she stole my thunder
Filled my world with the ways of wonder
–Roger Hodgson, Along Came Mary
Since one of the things I enjoy the most in life is music, and more specifically music that the majority of people would be unaware of, I have decided to introduce a new feature to the blog called Musical Monday. Every Monday, I will select a musician or group that most of you would not normally be exposed to and give you a taste of the musician, his career and style.
For the inaugural Musical Monday, we’re going to take a musical journey to Merry Old England and examine the music of Roger Hodgson. While Roger’s name may not be particularly well-known in most musical circles, the name of the band that he co-founded will be familiar to most: Supertramp.
I have had the privilege to attend not one, but two Roger Hodgson concerts; after attending the first concert, I came to appreciate the musical genius that this man possesses; hopefully, you’ll do the same. I have left the best until the last so that you can get a full idea of the Roger Hodgson back story.

Thanks to a random searcher who apparently didn’t have better things to do, I learned that I’m on the first page in Google under the phrase “biggest idiot on the Internet”.
The greatest aspect of a post about this query also poses its largest challenge: the sheer quantity and “quality” of idiots available to choose from. How does one select the biggest idiot on the Internet from a large field of competitors, and how does any one idiot in particular stand out?

What a wonderful week this has been for strange and exotic search queries! Walk on my Path is acquiring an ever-increasing search engine presence, particularly in the long tail and oddball search query areas.
This week, I’m going to put a bit of a twist on Search Query Info. I will pick the 2nd through 6th best queries to try and answer here; but the best query is so original and so unusual that I’m devoting an entire post just to this query. It’s two for the price of…well, you guys don’t pay for anything, so I suppose it’s two for the price of YOU’RE ALL A BUNCH OF CHEAP BASTARDS…I mean none.

In the next move destined to manipulate and eventually devalue what was once a noble concept, the SEO community has begun to latch onto job boards on .EDU websites.
EXPLANATION FOR NON-SEOS: The .EDU top-level domain is reserved for educational institutions. Since educational institutions are widely believed to be held to high standards, there is a widely held belief among the SEO community that Google provides a “ranking boost” known as TrustRank to web pages which acquire hyperlinks from .EDU websites to said pages.
EXPLANATION FOR SEOS: I will be explaining many low-level concepts in detail to ensure that the non-SEOs can understand the concept; I am specifically targeting the educational institutions that are targeted by this activity. So please bear with me as I explain concepts that many of you would consider second nature. Thanks.

The practice of SEOs and web designers placing hyperlinks on the websites for which they are paid to enhance is beginning to gather momentum again. This is a practice that serves you, the website owner, no purpose and should be considered a bad practice.

I haven’t dedicated a post in a while, so I’m way overdue. This one goes out to my homeslice Aaron Pratt, since he’s the one directly responsible for this post (although he in no way intended to be.)
I don’t remember the exact context of the conversation we had last week, but I do remember one particular line:
SEO is boring.
It was so simple, so blunt, so direct…and so accurate.
What makes SEO boring now?
