Steven Bradley Exposes My Intentional Glossy Illiteracy

Yes, you read that right. I’m intentionally illiterate when it comes to glossy materials.

In his latest blog post, Steven Bradley tagged me and apparently the new meme asks, “What Magazines Have I Read?”

My answer? None. I do not read magazines. As I said above, I’m intentionally illiterate when it comes to glossy materials.

So why don’t I read magazines, or any print media for that matter?

“The Lady” of Crescentbrook Farms

I’m a geek by nature. As a geek, I tend to be a very logical person; I need to have a reason for everything, and I’m not one to simply believe in something “just because”. However, this particular story has one twist to it that is just a little too weird, even for me.

I have decided to share this story with you today because it involves an ECE daycare known as Crescentbrook Farms in the town of Aurora, Ontario. Crescentbrook Farms is a daycare program for which I have done occasional IT-related work on behalf of a client of mine, and today is the last day of programs for the children.

Crescentbrook Farms has a rather unique charm to it. Crescentbrook was originally a farm house, as its name implies. As the area around it built up and became an industrial/commercial area, Crescentbrook was one of the few buildings that maintained a certain old-school residential quality.

Note the TV aerial on top of the roof; how often does anyone use these anymore? That should give you an idea of the relative age and “country nature” of the daycare. Looks like a neat old farm house, doesn’t it?

Here’s the weird part: the house is supposedly haunted by the ghost of “The Lady”.

I’m “It”, Part Deux: Missing Persons Report

I haven’t even been blogging for a month yet, and I’ve now been tagged…again. This time, I’ve been tagged by Matt Johnson over at kbox. Since I already covered 5 reasons why I blog, I’m going to try something different and out of the box (because well…this whole blog is basically me being different and out of the box).

I don’t know if any of these people have blogs or not, or what they’re doing these days, but I’m going to tag them anyway. The reason I’m going to tag them is because they’re five people who became friends of mine at some point and that for various reasons I lost contact with. I’d really like to get in touch with these people again, so if anyone knows where to find them and let them know I’ve tagged them, I’d really appreciate that.

Messing around with my skin … feedback wanted

Hi everyone,

I went on a demi-creative bender with the skin (about as creative as a non-artsy math nerd geek type can get) and this is what I came up with.  I have a bit better idea for the header, but it will have to wait until it gets warmer, and more importantly greener, outside.

I will be putting in some more very minor tweaks to it tomorrow, but I’m personally okay with it for the most part.

Let me know what you think!
