Full Link Disclosure

The purpose of this section is to outline the concept of full link disclosure and how this site uses it. This section will be updated when it is appropriate to do so; if you see a link and do not understand its purpose, please visit this page for reference.

Full Link Disclosure is the practice of using CSS to provide visual cues pertaining to the links throughout the site. These visual cues will allow the user to quickly and easily determine the nature of a hyperlink and therefore make an informed judgement as to the quality of said hyperlink.

This site uses three primary link styles to inform users as to the nature of a hyperlink:

  • Normal Hyperlink Style. These are ordinary hyperlinks. I have not been compensated in any way. Normal hyperlinks are blue, as it is the primary default color for web hyperlinks.
  • Advertiser/Affiliate Hyperlink Style. These are hyperlinks for which I have been compensated in some way, shape or form. These hyperlinks are green, since they are associated with a revenue stream in some fashion. Some of the advertiser hyperlinks may also be placed on a green background with rounded corners where appropriate, in order to further distinguish them.
  • Nofollow Links. These are hyperlinks which I provide for educational and reference purposes only, and quite often for the purposes of illustrating a deeper point or a problem of some kind with said hyperlinks. While they are relevant to the topic at hand, these hyperlinks are orange in order to provide sufficient warning that there is an issue associated with them.
