Green Building Fest 2007 - Day 1 Photos
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
I don’t really have much to say for a change, but I did want to share some of the photos of the Toronto Regional Green Building Festival 2007 that I took earlier yesterday (Wednesday). I’ll add some more tomorrow as well.
These aren’t the greatest shots in the world, but for a $150 digital camera I can’t complain too much. It’s also the first time I’ve ever used my camera in an indoor setting. And as soon as we can get all the information organized, I think there’s going to be a conference recap of info and photos. These are just “teaser” shots to give you an idea of one of the conference aspects.
Presentations/Sessions
This is the best presenter shot I’ve been able to come up with so far. The presenter is Richard Williams, from a company called HOK Canada, and he talked about how to design sustainable workplaces, such as the Atlantis Lakeview pavilion that the session was held in.

The more perceptive of you will have realized that the lights in the pavilion were left off by design, in order to save energy and since it was an incredibly sunny day. It made photography a lot more difficult (that, and I wasn’t allowed to walk right up and snap the shots like I would have liked), but beggers can’t be choosy and all that.
Large Crowd
There were quite a few people that attended Day 1 of the Green Building Festival, and I was able to capture a few of them in this shot from an unusual vantage point.

World House
This is Luigi Ferrara presenting about the World House Project, a project designed to create sustainable housing which will leave no one homeless. This guy had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand.

Mirror, Mirror on the Ceiling, Sometimes You Can Be Very Revealing
This doesn’t really have much to do with the Green Building Festival as such, although I did take the picture there. It’s just a funky accident. I didn’t even think when I took this particular shot. I just wanted a decent crowd shot, this opportunity came by, so I held up the camera and snapped away.
It wasn’t until after looking at the picture all blown up that I realized the ceiling was mirrored. If I had planned the shot a little better, it probably would have turned out really cool.

Anyway, I’ll have some more shots for you guys tomorrow. I’m focusing on the speakers and (if I get there on time) the trade show. Feedback is welcome on the photographs: in particular, how the hell do you pro guys work around sunshine leaking into a room?
